Meiji Shrine

So first stop on my tour today was the Meiji Shrine near Harajuku Station. Our guide for this tour was Mori-san who you can see in the right of the picutre.

Along the way to the shrine are some barrels of sake wrapped in straw on the right.

and on the left are some barrels of wine for consecration at the temple.

The first gate I passed through on the way.

After the first game the path has these murals along both side with information.

One of the lanterns along the way.

More information.

Just before entering the shrine there is the little pagoda where you can wash your hands and mouth. It's a ceremonial thing that we all did.

Another gate.

And then this guy, but I don't know who he is.

The shrine proper.

Inside it.

And there was a wedding on. Very traditional. There were guards to keep all the visitors and tourist from getting in the way of the procession. Very cool.

This tree was surrounded on all sides by these little plaques that people wrote their wishes on. I didn't do it.

Going back outside.

The wedding ceremony continued in another area.

Another shot of a lantern. One of many along the way.

And now we're exiting.

This was the first part of the tour I took today. There were a lot more photos, but a lot were duplicates or stock shots I took of scenery. Sorry about not having more info, there was just so much to take in and not enough time.
